The end of May...

It's hard to believe that it's already the last day of the month. Where did the last 31 days go? We've had gorgeous weather the last few days. It's been hot, hot, hot - but at least it's been great weather.

I finished Country Cottage Needleworks' Harvest Blessing on the 25th. My goal was to finish by today, I finished it with almost a week to spare.

I went stash diving after I finished it. I ended up starting an older Heart In Hand design, that I'd kitted up over a year ago. It was meant to be a travel project when we went to Florida last year, but I never got around to even starting it.

I need to sit down and work on my list for June. I have so many things that I want to start, but I've decided that I do much better with a realistic list. Now, just to decide which projects make the cut, and which might have to wait until July.

I'll be back tomorrow to post my May finishes, and my June goals!!

The start of the weekend...

The weather has taken a turn, and not for the better. There's frost on the ground this morning, and a chill in the air. It's hard to believe that the week started with temps in the 80's. I'm hoping that spring is on it's way back. I'm so glad that I put off going to the garden shop until next week.

I finished LHN's Plums earlier in the week and have gotten a lot done on CCN's Harvest Blessing. I think it's a little to much to expect to be able to finish it over the weekend, but by this time next week, it should be done. The words, which usually take me the longest for some unknown reason, were stitched up in a flash this tme. My mini-goal for the day is to finish the house. The three rows of veggies are my favorite, especially the row of lettuce.

So, maybe by this time next week, I'll be able to start Bent Creek's The Big Zipper! Off to stitch!!!

Busy Weekend

The past weekend was busy, but wonderful! Even with everything that we had going on, I was able to get quite a bit of stitching done. I had the house to myself for a few hours on Friday night, before going out to a late dinner. I'd been looking forward to it all week, and knew exactly what I was going to do during the "me" time. I started Little House Needleworks - Plums thread pack. It's turning out so cute! The colors are beautiful. I should be able to finish it today. This will be #2 off my May stitching goals and I've met my reading goal for the month too, so I'm getting closer to starting The Big Zipper.

It's gorgeous out today. It's suppose to be 84 degrees this afternoon. I'd love to sit out on the gazebo and stitch, but I'm not sure that I want to leave my air conditioned living room.

I Couldn't Resist...

I saw the new Bent Creek zipper - The Big Zipper - when it was released last week. My first thought was "Wow! Way too much money for a kit. Especially, a Zipper kit. But, after a couple days of thinking about it. I realized that I really liked the design, no wait, I loved the design. So, I ordered it. It arrived yesterday. It does have a huge piece of fabric, but I really thought that for the price that all of the threads would be full skeins. There were only 3 full skeins in the kit, which are the 2 main colors of the border.

I'm not upset that I bought it. I really do love the design, but next time, I think I'll wait and see what the "missing pieces" - zippers - that fill in the empty spots look like first.

I'd planned on this being my summer travel project, (Zipper are great travel projects) but after getting the huge piece of fabric out, I can see that probably isn't going to happen. I don't know if I'll be able to stitch on that big of a piece of fabric, while riding in the truck.

I'm anxious to start this piece, but I want to stitch the 3 projects that are my May goals first. So, I better get busy stitching!!!

April Finishes/May Goals

Finishes:

Tiny Chick/Soft Boiled - The Cricket Collection
Earth Laughs - M Designs
Strawberries - Little House Needleworks

Books Read in April:

I Heard That Song Before - Mary Higgins Clark
The Friday Night Knitting Club - Kate Jacobs
Murder 101 - Maggie Barbieri
May Day - Jess Lourey
Nineteen Minutes - Jodi Picoult

Goals for May:

Harvest Blessings - Country Cottage Needleworks
Plums - Little House Needleworks
Tiny Sheep/Soft Boiled - The Cricket Collection
Read 1 Book

I made some ambitious goals for April, that I didn't come close to finishing. I decided to have my May goals be a little more realistic. I probably would have come closer to reaching my goals, but I was on a roll with reading some of the books that I've bought the last couple of months. I read some great books this month though. I'd love to stitch 8-10 projects a month, like I did a few years ago, but I just don't see that happening any time in the near future. I have enough stash, that stitching that many wouldn't be a problem in the least, it's just finding enough hours in the day anymore.

Here's to having a great stitching month!
